Megacities on the Move show-cased at Detroit Transforming Transportation conference
‘Megacities on the Move’– FIA Foundation’s collaborative project with Forum for the Future, Vodafone and EMBARQ was showcased this week at the University of Michigin’s ‘Transforming Transportation’ conference in ‘Motor-city’ – Detroit.
Speaking to the audience of experts and practitioners in urban mobility issues from across North America and the rest of the world, Sheila Watson, Director of Environment at FIA Foundation said ‘The objective of this scenario-based approach to considering possible urban futures, is to enable those with an interest to consider, to plan and to positively shape that future.
Speaking at the meeting, and presenting the ‘Megacities’ work, Sheila Watson, Director of Environment at FIA Foundation said. The scenarios do not predict the future – they are not ‘right’ or wrong’, but they are thought-provoking and challenging, and they present policymakers with real challenges ion framing their own plans. They do show however, just how our approach to mobility will have to change – and what will influence those changes. I hope that people will access the material in this study, and use it to good purpose in their own planning processes.
