Gianni Lopez from Centro Mario Molina Chile (CMMCh) presented on behalf of UNEP at the Diesel Emissions Conference & ARLA 32 Forum Brazil 2011 from 5th -7th April. During this trip, he made a further presentation of the GFEI to principal officers of the operations and regulation sector of Sao Paulo State Environmental Authority (CETESB – Companhia Ambiental do Estado de Sao Paulo). CETESB is in the process of preparing CO2 standards for the car market. These presentations generated interest in the GFEI, and provides an opportunity to establish a dialogue on fuel economy/CO2, inspection and maintenance programs, and new emissions standards for Brazil. Discussions are now under way for a technical workshop to be planned with ICCT; officials from Brazil as well as Argentina, Colombia and Peru will be invited.
